Excluding extreme luxury watches that can be considered more of a jewelry than a watch. After a certain level of brand prestige you start to pay much more for a slight difference in quality. This is a good reason to stick with 2000-4000 dollar watches rather than 10 - 20k watches. Difference is definetly not worth it if you're not obsessed with the brand name.

I got a Seiko as a gift and it killed me that I scratched the crystal so I'm going to look into this thank you for the recommendation

Tudor GMT is NOT better than a Rolex GMT but it is quite cheaper. The Tudor Black Bay GMT (model M79830RB-0001) lists for $4,375. The closest Rolex GMT II with the Oyster bracelet in OysterSteel lists for $10,700. The Tudor is a lot thicker at 14.6mm while the Rolex is thinner at 12mm. Value wise the Tudor is an excellent value if you can accept and tolerate its thickness...but still it is not better than the Rolex. The Rolex GMT is the best and most sought after GMT watch in the world.

I spotted it almost immediately by looking at the pivot pin on the crown lock. My 0111 is a fake that a friend built from parts and offered to me at a very fair price. It has no lettering of any kind, and has a ST 3600 movement which has been oiled and regulated, and keeps almost perfect time. TBH, I wouldn`t enjoy a real Panerai any more than this one, I wear it every day.

I think this video is actually less than helpful. Because you said it yourself, you've got a bad fake. A good fake is mind blowingly good. I'm on a website that sells fakes of all kinds and looking at a near perfect replica of the PAM000 for $338. Same for the PAM111 at $318. These two I'm looking at need to have a picture of a real Panerai right next to it and zoomed way in to spot small details that are wrong. And what's crazy is that these aren't even the best fakes. The factory, NOOB, got raided a while back and the best of the best have dried up. Those are the ones that even dealers couldn't tell apart. All for $400. So by showing a really bad fake next to a real Panerai, I think you're causing people seriously underestimate how hard it is to spot a fake.

I have the smaller body version (acquired from an authorized Omega dealer) and notice the tip of the second hand is red vs your version with the white tipping on the end of the second hand. Is that a variance of the difference in the case size or an iterative result of model year tweaks?

Perhaps I don't fully understand regatta timing but this appears to basically do 1/6th the work of a dive watch. If I want to count down from 10 minutes on a dive watch, I'll set the minute hand to 50 on bezel, and I know that any time past the pip is how much longer the task being timed took.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but the white speck on the dial of the Submariner, and the misaligned pip on the Sea-Dweller were totally on you. If that sorta thing bothers you, you should inspect the watch before you buy it. You bought these watches with these faults already there. The two malfunctions were corrected within the warranty period free of charge. If you have trouble with the warranty that would be one thing, but here it did exactly what it was supposed to. Btw, I wouldn't be surprised if you tried to flyback the chronograph which the Rolex just cannot do. If you do do this (too often) you will break the watch. So basically, all watches were perfectly fine (considering the state you accepted when you purchased them), except maybe the corroding dial on the GMT, and you could've bought a more recent version with Super-Luminova, which probably wouldn't have that issue. Tritium corrodes the dial, hands, and discolors the pips. Luminova or Super-Luminova doesn't.

Nothing special about a Rolex. It’s real simple folks so no matter how many times I say it. You’re paying for the name, nothing more. Yea, they’re hand made, nicely polished, durable movements, Swiss made, close attention to detail etc. but that doesn’t justify the premium you’re paying for them. Bottom line is, you’re paying for the name. No expert can convince me otherwise cause the is a FACT!! I sold my Rolexes and went a tier lower and bought a bunch of Tissots. The gentlemen, prx automatic in blue, the panda PRX chronograph etc and couldn’t be happier. You can knock the ETA/valjoux movements all you want but those movements are properly priced. 30-500 usd. You can’t say the same about the movements in a Rolex. Abd don’t give me that nonsense about how the Rolex movement is much better. Aside from it being more durable and having a better finish, that doesn’t warrant a 15k premium. Nowadays, even the Rolex dials are becoming the most expensive part to a Rolex. Yeah that’s right, a freakin dial. So go ahead and get a new 5k Rolex dial. Congrats.

A dot on the dial from the factory makes the watch more unique :) I bought a new BMW that actually had a small line across the dash and I thought it was cool, no another one had that exact line! It was in effect unique! You had a unique watch and you didn't appreciate it.

i picked the left one as fake. The dates scroll badly and the engraving on the back logo was not cleanly cut. The reset of the watch was also sloppy.

(Maximum submerged depth: 3m) 100m (Rolex): You can SCUBA dive with this watch. (Maximum submerged depth? I wouldn't take it deeper than 30m) 300m: You can SCUBA dive with this watch. (Maximum submerged depth: 300m) Anything beyond that is an academic or technical exercise and not practical. For instance, the Titanic lies at 3900m (the depth rating of the Rolex Deepsea), but the only way to reach that depth is in a submersible vehicle. You can't exit the vehicle at that depth. If you're exposed at that depth you'll die instantly, whether it be from oxygen toxicity, narcosis, inability to breathe due to the gas density, or just the pressure.

You bothered to briefly mention the bezel--the use of--soemthing everyone glances over or avoids...only talking abou the <clicks<....which doesn't help people new to dive watches like me. Always wondered <why the bezel?< :) And you talked briefly abut hte internal parts in the movement--something else everyone avoids. Love to hear soemtong talk about the <movements<. How one movemnet nibht be different from one in another brand watch. Do they use different parts or are they all exactly the same <part for part<?? just a differnt size...etc. Or why you think a $8k watchis worth the added cost over a $30000 Tag.....etc.... The Panet Ocean---like <rectangular or trapazoidal shaped< indicies over dots. For this reason i prefer it's looks immediately ove the 300m. Not sure why most dive watches use <dots< over <rectangules<.... I Rolex i think is highly overrated. They're jut the best marketed brand. Their Sub doesn't een have a <helium esc valvue< which i find dd even if it is iMHO a bogus feature added to wathes to help sell that watch along with it's <deep dive depth< rating....no one actually dives with a luxry Swiss dive watch. :) You know this ....heh......at most someone might take it for a swim in a pool or at the beach (though i would't chance it...watch uddnly coming undone.....why most people don't wear jweellery into the waters or when playing sports..h..

Any watch seller that wants you to pay with cash, bitcoin or western union are just thieves! You have no recourse, if something goes wrong, and that's the way they like it.

The cyclops is what gives Rolex the win over omega. If omega had a cyclops omega would be the winner for sure

I have mine for 6yrs now. I personally chose it due to its cage that's so nostalgic from the watches of mu classmates during elementary days, and we can't afford one. I work on the field, I skate, I longboard, I never removed it unless I take bath 😂

The clasp on the newer bracelets seems lazy to me… its not a continual “link” look and its just this solid stripe of gold… to each their own, but looks bleh in my opinion. If you hold the two last ones together side by side, yeah one feels more substantial … its a 41MM, it has solid links, and the clasp bar is thicker. Just to name a couple things off the top.
